Country music legend Dolly Parton to read CBeebies Bedtime Story

Country music legend Dolly Parton is the next celebrity to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story.

The appearance of the internationally renowned singer songwriter follows on from Queens of the Stone Age front man Josh Homme last week .

Other guest stars including TV hunks Tom Hardy and Captain America star Chris Evans have caused much excitement among mums , who thanked the pre-school channel for making bedtime a bit more interesting.

But TV bosses insist they have the dad appeal too – with Dolly joining the popular female line-up of Suranne Jones, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Isla Fisher.

She’ll read the story Dog Loves Books, written and illustrated by Louise Yates.

Dolly said: “It’s an honour to be reading for CBeebies Bedtime Stories as encouraging children to develop a love of books from an early age is very important to me.

“I hope my songs and stories inspire the CBeebies audience in the UK. Thank you for having me.”

Dog Loves Books is about a dog who loves books so much he opens his own bookshop. No-one shows up to the grand opening, but Dog is never short of friends when he’s surrounded by books. When he gets his first customer, will Dog be ready?

It’s the first of two Bedtime Stories Dolly has recorded for CBeebies and will be broadcast on Wednesday, October 25.

CBeebies Bedtime Stories is on daily at 6.50pm. Some of the episodes are filmed at Salford’s MediaCityUK.
