Well now this is sweet. Chris Stapleton heard a story about a Florida police officer named Jeremy Mason who was shot in the face earlier this year while pursuing a suspect, so he decided to invite him to his show this weekend.

Back in July, Officer Mason, a K-9 cop who works for the Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff’s Office, was chasing a suspected bank robber when the suspect opened fire, hitting him in the chin. Despite the injury, Officer Mason continued the pursuit until the suspect, Michael Joseph Harris, crashed his car and was ultimately shot and killed.

Over the weekend, Stapleton was in Florida for a concert and invited Officer Mason as well as several other police officers to the show where he could meet them.

“Thank you Mr. Stapleton for taking the time out of your day to honor us. From all of us at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, we thank you for your support,” the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.
