The Swon Brothers have dropped a sneak peak for their upbeat new single “What Ever Happened,” readers can press play above to watch the clip. The catchy new song was written by brothers Zach and Colton in a single hour at their home studio, when they began reminiscing about the good old days and how easy it is to lose sight of what’s important.
“What ever happened to the good old days / We’re running out of the good old days / Moving in reverse / Something’s got to change…” the chorus asks. “Losing sight of what it means to love / We lost our minds and started backing up / Choosing sides is just a losing game / Colorblind we all bleed the same.” The lyrics in the verse look at not just relationships with each other, but our relationship with the bigger world. The poignant lyrics are set to a peppy, pop-infused 90s electronic backdrop, lending a nostalgic boy-band feel to the tune.
The sibling duo got their big break in 2013, when they finished in third place during the fourth season of The Voice, but the brothers have actually been making music for far longer: They released their first album in 2009 and have played together since childhood. During their stint on The Voice, the pair was lucky enough to to form a very special friend with Blake Shelton, whom they both still consider a mentor and friend, according to a 2017 interview with Taste of Country. Their most recent EP Pretty Cool Scars is available for download via iTunes. For more information on the Swon Brothers and their upcoming shows, check out their Facebook page.
