On Tuesday (Oct. 3), about 24 hours after the mass shooting that killed 59 people and injured 500 more, the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nev., said in a statement that its organizers are committed to persevering in the aftermath of the tragedy. The festival’s Facebook page and official website now contain a note from those in charge of the event.
In the statement — the festival’s first since the shooting on Sunday night (Oct. 1) — Route 91 Harvest Festival organizers vow to move forward while mourning the lives of those lost.
“We are completely devastated by the event that occurred last night,” reads the statement. “Our deepest sympathies go out to the injured and the deceased and their loved ones. Senseless violence has claimed the souls of our fans, and we have little in the way of answers.”
Country Stars Respond Following Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting
The Route 91 Harvest Festival’s statement also includes a great deal of love for the first responders and fans who helped care for victims as the shots rang out: “Our eternal gratitude goes out to the LVMPD, emergency services, security guards and fans,” the statement reads, “for their selfless acts of bravery while trying to help those in need.”
“While we will try and move forward, we will never forget this day,” the statement concludes. “We will NOT let hate win over LOVE. We will NOT be defeated by senseless violence. We WILL persevere and honor the souls that were lost.”
Route 91 Harvest Festival organizer Live Nation has also issued a statement. Theirs condemns the violence that took place and vows to support the victims and their families as they try to heal in the coming days and weeks.
“Live Nation will do everything in our power to support the victims and their families through the aftermath of this horrendous event and extends our deepest gratitude to the heroic first responders who helped save as many lives as possible,” the statement concludes. “To our Live Nation on-site employees, we cannot thank you enough for your bravery and perseverance over the past 24 hours and will ensure you have the resources and support necessary to heal from this.”
