LIFE LAB founder TRISTAN COOPERSMITH has accused REPUBLIC RECORDS GROUP Pres. CHARLIE WALK of sexual harassment in an open letter on her website, lifelabhb.com. She claims that WALK, who also currently appears as a judge on THE FOX show “The Four,” harassed her when he was an executive at SONY MUSIC and she was a former label staffer who worked with him.
Now a licensed psychotherapist who helps others “heal and release past wounds,” COOPERSMITH recalled daily meetings with WALK that often consisted of lewd and suggestive comments, and that he made unwanted advances even when his wife was in the next room. On occasions when she dined with WALK and his wife, he put his “hand on my thigh under the table … You did it so you could lean over and whisper disgusting things into my ear and I had to smile so that no one suspected anything.”
After a year, she reported WALK’s behavior to a “counterpart,” who offered her a “graceful exit.” COOPERSMITH wrote, “I took that dirty money and moved to LOS ANGELES.”
WALK denied the allegations, telling ALL ACCESS, “It is very upsetting to learn of this untrue allegation made by someone who worked with me 15 years ago, without incident. There has never been a single HR claim against me at any time during my 25+ year career, spanning three major companies. I have consistently been a supporter of the women’s movement and this is the first time I have ever heard of this or any other allegation — and it is false.”
A REPUBLIC statement reads: “While it appears this blog post relates to the period prior to Mr. WALK’s appointment to his position at REPUBLIC RECORDS, we take the allegations very seriously and intend to conduct a full and complete review of this matter.”
