Read Route 91 Harvest Festival Organizer Live Nation’s Statement on Shooting

Live Nation, the event production company that organizes the Route 91 Harvest Festival, has issued a statement in the aftermath of the tragic mass shooting that killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 more. In the statement, the company vows to support those affected: the victims and their families, and Live Nation employees.

“We are heartbroken over the tragedy that took place at the Route 91 Harvest Festival,” Live Nation’s statement reads. “To think that anyone would want to inflict harm on a gathering of music lovers is beyond our comprehension.”

The statement notes that Live Nation is “stunned and grieving over this incomprehensible act of violence,” but also that “this is a moment when we must come together to prevent more tragedies like this from occurring.”

In addition to mourning the lives of those lost, Live Nation says that it will provide support to victims and their families, including the company’s own employees.

“Live Nation will do everything in our power to support the victims and their families through the aftermath of this horrendous event and extends our deepest gratitude to the heroic first responders who helped save as many lives as possible,” the statement concludes. “To our Live Nation on-site employees, we cannot thank you enough for your bravery and perseverance over the past 24 hours and will ensure you have the resources and support necessary to heal from this.”

Via Twitter, LiveNation encouraged its followers to pray for those affected by the shootings, which occurred late Sunday night (Oct. 1). Jason Aldean, who was headlining the final night of the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival, was performing when 64-year-old Stephen Paddock began firing from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. It is believed that Paddock killed himself before police were able to enter the hotel room that he was occupying.
