And they never even got a cute name!
After two years of hosting the ACM Awards, Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan (or Lentley as I would have enjoyed calling them had there been a third year) are officially out.
Dierks broke the news last Monday during an appearance at last week’s Country Radio Seminar in Nashville, telling reporters that he and Luke had been canned from the show.
“That’s over … We got fired. Is that not common knowledge?”
Nope, it definitely wasn’t common knowledge at the time. The ACM Awards later confirmed the pairs’ departure, saying that a new host (or hosts) would be announced soon. No word on why the two won’t be returning, but with Dierks having a new album coming out sometime this year and with Luke busy with American Idol, busy schedules likely had something to do with it.
But now comes the hard part of finding someone to replace the dynamic duo.
Avid award show watcher and entertainment analyst Kaela Napier at Sports Betting Dime weighed in on her predictions for the replacement host. ” With Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley out as ACM Awards hosts, the speculation is high for who will step in as the replacement(s). If the Academy is looking for a solo act, Brittany Aldean and Darius Rucker are both solid options, as is record-setting host Reba McEntire – who has been named a fan favorite — though it is uncertain whether she would want to return for an 18th time. As for replacement duos, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been noted as an attractive package deal”
If I had to vote for someone, it would have to be Reba dressed as Col. Sanders. Now that would be must-watch TV!
Who has your vote?
