ALL ACCESS congratulates BLUE CHAIR/COLUMBIA NASHVILLE”s KENNY CHESNEY and his team for a #1 debut on his latest album, the massive, 29-track live set “Live In No Shoes Nation,” which sold 219,000 equivalent albums units in its first week, 217,000 of which were traditional album sales. This marks the eighth #1 career album debut for CHESNEY, trailing only GARTH BROOKS, who has nine. Additionally, “Live In No Shoes Nation” is the first live album to open at #1 in seven years and is the largest sales week for a live set since PAUL MCCARTNEY’s “Back In the USA Live 2002” moved 224,000 copies in 2002.
As noted earlier, most of CHESNEY’s sales were traditional album sales, which were likely driven by a concert ticket and album sale bundle as part of CHESNEY’s 2018 stadium tour promotion. The cost of “Live In No Shoes Nation” was combined with the price of each ticket sold online for next year’s tour. Ticket purchasers were contacted afterwards, inviting them to redeem an email for the album. Only albums redeemed counted toward these sales figures.
