The country music community is hurting after the horrific mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival on Sunday (Oct. 1), and Kacey Musgraves turned to Twitter to share her pain with fans.
“Such a disgusting and appalling shame that fear of something like what happened tonight in Vegas now has so much effect on me and all of us when we’re up there doing our jobs, spreading something as innocent as the love of music,” she writes in a passionate message. “Pray for the country community, those that got hurt tonight, and that whatever drives this evil can be f—ing crushed. Gonna hug my loved ones a little tighter now.”
Musgraves is just one of many singers who have voiced their heartache following the attack that killed at least 58 people and injured nearly 500 more. Jason Aldean was performing his headlining set when Stephen Paddock fired bullets into the crowd of fans gathered for the show from his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the 32nd floor.

Aldean opened up about the horrific event in a lengthy social media post the following day. “Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions. Fear, Anger, Heartache, Compassion and many others. I truely don’t understand why a person would want to take the life of another. Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see,” he writes on Instagram.
Music acts from all genres, along with late night hosts, have spoken out about the tragedy and expressed their sorrow. Florida Georgia Line donated $10,000 to the Las Vegas Victims GoFundMe page, with Thomas Rhett also making a donation to the cause. Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Vince Gill and Amy Grant are just a few of the genre’s other stars that have honored the victims and their families.
