As the country awoke to news of a mass shooting at the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nev., early Monday morning (Oct. 2), Kacey Musgraves joined with many other artists in sending out messages of love and support. Musgraves’ tweet expresses prayers for the country music community, and wishes that “whatever drives this evil can be f–king crushed.”

“Such a disgusting and appalling shame that fear of something like what happened tonight in Vegas now has so much effect on me and all of us when we’re up there doing our jobs, spreading something as innocent as the joy of music,” Musgraves writes on Twitter. “Gonna hug my loved ones a little tighter now.”

Musgraves was not a performer at the 2017 Route 91 Music Festival; however, throughout 2016, she joined fellow Texan George Strait to perform during his residency in Sin City. Musgraves has performed at Route 91 in years past.
