The release of Jason Aldean‘s “You Make It Easy” marks the second straight album he’s introduced with a slow, aching, R&B inspired love song.
The first single from Rearview Town is a much more organic offering than “Burnin’ It Down,” a racy hit that was surely the new dirt on Old Boots, New Dirt. This soulful, sincere performance is much more genuine and certainly falls more in line with what fans expect from him. That’s not to say it’s “expected.”
“You Make It Easy” is as much of a vocal showcase as Aldean has ever released. It’s arguably his most dynamic single yet, with guitar licks and phrases you might find on a Chris Stapleton project. Did you ever think you’d be comparing those two vocalists? Dang if this song isn’t just as convincing.
It’d be hard to argue that Aldean had anyone other than wife Brittany on his mind recording this vulnerable lyric. It’s nothing short of a love confession from a man who has for over a decade kept his emotions very close to his heart. Perhaps more than anything that’s what’s best about “You Make It Easy,” an easy early favorite for year-end critic’s pick lists. The song is uncharacteristically raw.
Did You Know?: Rearview Town will be Aldean’s eight studio album and is expected on April 13.

Jason Aldean, “You Make It Easy” Lyrics:
Like a rainy Sunday morning makes me wanna stay in bed, twisted up all day long / You’re my inspiration girl you take me places put the words right into these songs / Stealin’ kisses undercover babe / I see forever when I see your face / And I swear God made you for me.
Chorus:
You make it easy / Lovin’ up on you / Make it easy / With every little thing you do / You’re my sunshine in the darkest days / My better half, my saving grace / You make me who I wanna be / You make it easy.
You took off my rough around the edges / Never let it ruffle up your feathers, angel / Yeah I’m down for life you got me wrapped around your finger and I like it just in case you can’t tell.
