A cappella group Home Free recently took on Blake Shelton‘s “Hillbilly Bone,” and while you may have heard covers of the song, we can assure that you’ve never heard it like this before.
Always willing to take on a challenge, the beloved group truly make the classic Shelton track their own. Coming in like a force of nature, the guys kick off the song with solid stomps and their killer harmonies, and even a little beatboxing mixed in. Tim Foust takes it down a notch with his deep voice, taking over the first verse before they come back together on the chorus.
The video in and of itself is a good time, taking the guys out to the sticks for a backwoods party, complete with camo shirts, cans of beer — and, of course, red solo cups. Home Free is clearly having a ball in the video, and seem to have been practicing their dance moves lately, as they show off their best hip swivels with a dance party in the barn before taking it out to the field.
“Hillbilly Bone” is the newest addition to their collection of celebrated covers. The quintet has made a name for themselves covering a wide range of country songs, generating millions of views with their renditions of Maren Morris‘ “My Church,” “Elvira” by the Oak Ridge Boys,” Johnny Cash‘s “Ring of Fire” and many more. Their new album, Timeless, hits stores on Sept. 25 and includes the cover of “Hillbilly Bone” along with “Life is a Highway,” “My Church” and “Blue Ain’t Your Color.”
