Nashville singer-songwriter Heidi Raye is premiering the music video for her song “Junkyard” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.
Filmed at Mistletoe Farms in Franklin, Tenn., Raye’s “Junkyard” music video features plenty of rusted-out vintage cars, which add a nice touch. The song itself is all about finding out what lurks beneath the surface of a man who seems a little bit too good to be true.
“What you got in the junkyard? / You’re just a little rusted, broken-down, busted / Too many miles on used parts,” Raye sings in the chorus of “Junkyard.” “Tryin’ to keep ’em comin’, always up and runnin’ / Been around the block with a cold heart / Boy, it ain’t that hard / Whatcha got in the junkyard?”
The best part of Raye’s “Junkyard” clip, though, might just be the adorable alpaca that Raye makes friends with throughout.
A Nashville newcomer who moved from Canada to pursue her career, Raye is a prolific songwriter who has performed alongside artists including Terri Clark, Jason Aldean, Randy Travis and Kenny Chesney. Last July, she released her newest EP, Worth a Shot, on which “Junkyard” appears; like the song, Raye’s EP was produced by Grammy Awards-winning producer Chuck Ainlay, known for his work with Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert and George Strait.
