Florida Georgia Line have set the bar high when it comes to cross-genre collaborations, and their latest endeavor with Bebe Rexha, “Meant to Be,” is breaking chart records as it continues to climb. The track is currently holding its own at No. 1 for a 14th week on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart, which blends streaming, airplay and sales data. It’s a personal record for pop star Rexha and breaks the previous run at No. 1 by a song with female lead vocals, which was set by Little Big Town‘s “Girl Crush” after 13 weeks at No. 1 in 2015.
The track, which comes on Rexha’s All Your Fault: Pt. 2 EP, and had previously edged out Taylor Swift‘s 10-week run at No. 1 song by a woman with “We Are Never Getting Back Together” in 2010. “Meant to Be” marked Rexha’s first career appearance at the top of the Billboard Hot Country songs chart, while making cross-genre history on the pop charts as well.
However, not only are Florida Georgia line comfortable at the top of the country charts, but this isn’t the first time that the country duo, consisting of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have set chart records in collaboration with an artist of another genre. The duo spent 24 weeks at No. 1 in 2012 with their single “Cruise,” which featured rapper Nelly, kicking off a series of hit country/pop crossover songs with acts like the Backstreet Boys, Hailee Steinfeld and Allesso, and the Chainsmokers, among others.
