We knew that Steve McFadden isn’t just Phil Mitchell in EastEnders; we have come to terms with it. For a start, he is also god-daddy to baby penguins. However, one guise we never thought we’d see the Walford hardman in was that of a country singer.
One genius Twitter user has spotted a performer who is the absolute double of Phil – to the point where we have done several double takes just to make sure it isn’t actually a new career path for Steve.
Captioning the image which shows the singer Tracy Lawrence, pulling a classic ‘strained Phil’ face while hitting a passionate note, @Jonny_bell quipped to actor Harry Reid: ‘Who knew your dad moonlighted as a country singer!?!?’
Harry, who plays Ben in the soap, was left creased by the resemblance and retweeted the image, saying: ‘This is genius!! Steve Mac has a double!!’
We couldn’t love this any more if we tried.
Jonny’s discovery has made our day – and we’re sure that US star Tracy is honoured to be likened to the legend that is Phil Mitchell.
Jonny said to Metro.co.uk: ‘I found the picture on Instagram and it made me laugh straight away!’
Meanwhile, back in the world of EastEnders, Harry will soon depart his role as Ben in a dramatic exit while Phil has his own big storyline this Christmas when his old cellmate Aidan Maguire, played by Hollywood star Patrick Bergin, involves him in a risky job.
