Anyone who knows, well, anything knows that Dolly Parton has a crazy amount of official accolades under her belt (including eight Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards, five Academy of Country Music Awards and three American Music Awards, to be exact). However, the legendary entertainer keeps growing and moving forward, and she can now add two Guinness World Records to her resume.
Parton was recently certified in the 2018 edition of the Guinness World Records for the following achievements: Most Decades with a Top 20 Hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, and Most Hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart by a Female Artist.
“To receive these two Guinness World Records is so great!” said Parton in a statement. “Joining so many wonderful singers and songwriters who have been honored this way feels so special to me. You never know when you start out with your work how it’s going to turn out, but to have these two world records makes me feel very humbled and blessed!”
The superstar first hit the charts in 1967 with her debut hit “Dumb Blonde,” and hit the top 20 in the same year with “Something Fishy.” Her Grammy-winning version of the 1974 classic “Jolene” featuring Pentatonix, which charted in 2016, marks her 73rd Top 20 hit featuring her vocals. She’s outperformed such iconic names as Elvis Presley and George Jones in terms of racking up Top 20 country hits spanning six decades.
