RCA NASHVILLE’s CHRIS YOUNG was formally welcomed as the newest member of the GRAND OLE OPRY last night (10/17), with his friend, SONY NASHVILLE lablemate, and GRAND OLE OPRY member BRAD PAISLEY making it officially official. After YOUNG performed, PAISLEY joined him onstage for the presentation. “Just look where you are!” said PAISLEY, noting that both were standing inside the OPRY’s famed circle. “When I was first made a member of this crazy family, I had no idea the actual way this is a family,” PAISLEY continued. “I quickly was accepted and asked to be a part of so many things. CHRIS is one of those people that will make the most of this. … This is a great human being, and that’s what the OPRY needs.”
YOUNG was invited to be an OPRY member by VINCE GILL, during an appearance in AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/20). Said YOUNG last night, “The two best words I can think of are ‘thank you.’” YOUNG made his OPRY debut in 2006; his new album, “Losing Sleep,” streets FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20th.
