The Eagles have announced a 2018 tour, and they’re bringing a group of rock gods with them, including one of the biggest names in country music.
Chris Stapleton has been tapped as one of the special guests on the cross-country tour, along with James Taylor and Jimmy Buffett. The Eagles have announced the first 12 dates, which start March 14 in Chicago and continue through the summer. The first half of the trek wraps up in Philadelphia on July 28. More tour dates will be added — guitarist Joe Walsh reveals that the band expects to play between 40 and 50 dates throughout the year.
Stapleton will play with the Eagles at their Arlington, Texas, date on June 23. He’s following in the footsteps of fellow country star Vince Gill, who joined the legendary group on their tour in fall of 2017 as a both a guitarist and vocalist, along with the late Glenn Frey‘s son Deacon.
“In my mind, I always thought I’d have made a good Eagle. But in a million years, I never would have seen this coming. It’s pretty surreal,” Gill told the Los Angeles Times about the venture. “I turned 60 recently, and to get to be a part of this amazing legacy of songs, that’s the greatest part of all this for me.”
Tickets for shows in Arlington, Denver and Washington, D.C. go on sale Dec. 1 at 10AM, with the rest of the announced shows going on sale on Dec. 2. “Broken Halos” singer Stapleton recently scored two wins at the 2017 CMA Awards for Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
