What a difference a week makes. It wasn’t even a full seven days ago when CMA Awards host Brad Paisley took to Twitter to shake his head and fist at the organization for applying guidelines prohibiting media from discussing politics and gun control during this year’s event.
I’m sure the CMA will do the right thing and rescind these ridiculous and unfair press guidelines. In 3…2….1…..

Shortly after Paisley’s very public stance, others chimed in, agreeing with his position and standing up for their constitutional right to free speech. CMA heard the cries from its honorees and members and lifted the ban, giving everyone free rein to broach whichever topics they saw fit for the award ceremony.
Among those who took advantage of the rescission of the restrictions were CMA Awards hosts themselves, Paisley and Carrie Underwood. In fact, and likely to prove a point to those who thought placing red tape on the red carpet was a wise idea, the hosts of ten years went above and beyond to discuss politics, running the tour bus right over the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Many were disappointed in the decision of the hosts to take it to the extent they did, but we here at NashvilleGab can’t help but laugh at the clever way they took Underwood’s chart-topping hit “Before He Cheats” and ragged on Trump for his 140 character (280 now, right?) Twitter rants.
Watch the hilarious clip of “Before He Tweets” below and let us know what you think about the hosts’ choice to get political!
