Alabama Shakes won the 2018 Grammy Awards trophy for Best American Roots Performance on Sunday (Jan. 28), for their song “Killer Diller Blues.” The honor was handed out during the Premiere Ceremony, which streamed online before the televised awards show.
“Killer Diller Blues” is a cover a 1946 hit by Memphis Minnie. Alabama Shakes recorded their version of it for The American Epic Sessions on PBS.
The oher nominees in the Best American Roots Performance category at the 2018 Grammy Awards were “Let My Mother Live” by the Blind Boys of Alabama; “Arkansas Farmboy” by Glen Campbell; “Steer Your Way” by Leonard Cohen; and “I Never Cared for You” by Alison Krauss.
