Legendary country band Alabama are kicking off the first leg of a new tour this spring, the band announced Thursday (March 8). The Hits Tour 2018 will launch in Grand Prairie, Texas, on March 23.
The history making trio of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook have been playing together since 1969, and were the first country band to go triple platinum when two of their albums, Feels So Right and Mountain Music, both sold more than 3 million copies apiece. Feels So Right was released in 1981 and became Alabama’s first No. 1 record; all three singles from the record, “Old Flame,” “Love in the First Degree” and the title track, soared to the top of the charts. Mountain Music, meanwhile, which was released in 1982 also had three No. 1 singles, including the title track, “Take Me Down” and “Close Enough to Perfect.”
“This year’s tour is for the lifelong fans,” Owen says in a press release, “and also the younger generations just now discovering the music.”
