8 Country Artists Who Deserved 2018 Grammy Awards All-Genre Nominations

At the 2018 Grammy Awards, for the first time in more than a decade, not a single country, alt-country, Americana, bluegrass or folk artist is nominated in one of the event’s four all-genre categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Country fans were likely quite surprised — as they should have been — when nominations were announced on Tuesday morning (Nov. 28).

To call it an epic snub would be an understatement. Upon reflecting on the past year in country music, it’s easy to come up with at least one, if not more, worthy country nominee in each category. In the photo gallery below, readers will find more than half a dozen picks of country albums, songs and artists who deserved all-genre nominations at the 2018 Grammy Awards.

The 60th annual Grammy Awards will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Jan. 28. The televised ceremony will begin at 7:30PM ET on CBS; the pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony will be available to stream online earlier in the evening. Further details, including a list of performers, will be announced in the coming weeks.
