1998 was a big year in country music, but it’s still hard to believe that the 12 albums on this list are turning 20 years old in 2018!
Nineties country is one of the most beloved eras of the genre among fans and artists alike and 1998 did not disappoint. The Dixie Chicks made their grand introduction with the famous Wide Open Spaces, delighting fans with their harmonies and hits (big year for “There’s Your Trouble”). Sara Evans scored her first No. 1 hit in 1998 with the title track off her album, No Place That Far, and Reba McEntire was on her 24th album when she shared If You See Him in 1998. That delivered (and delivered!) multiple successful and beloved singles like “Forever Love” and “One Honest Heart,” while her close friends and future Vegas co-stars Brooks & Dunn released a callback album titled If You See Her the same day.
1998 is also when the world met Faith Hill‘s signature hit “This Kiss” via her Faith album, and Garth Brooks released the best-selling live record ever with Double Live, featuring some of his biggest hits like “The Thunder Rolls” and “Callin’ Baton Rouge.”
