Longtime EAU CLAIRE, WI broadcaster GEORGE HOUSE has retired after 40 years of broadcasting morning shows, the LEADER-TELEGRAM reports. While he enjoyed most of his career at Country WIXX/EAU CLAIRE, WI, his last five years was doing mornings at sister Hot AC WIAL (I-94).

After joining a radio club in high school, HOUSE’s first job in the business was a weekend gig at WIAL and sister WEAQ-A, before he crossed the hall for WIXX. “I’ve always been in the same building,” he said. “It’s been a blessed career; it’s been a charmed career.”

“I love radio,” he continued. “I just don’t want to commute anymore. It became an 80-mile drive every day. I did it all of 2017. I’d leave (home) at 4:15 in the morning. I’m tired of dodging deer.”
