Watch Zac Brown Band Sing the National Anthem at 2018’s College Football Championship

Zac Brown Band had the honor of performing the National Anthem at Monday night’s (Jan. 8) NCAA college football national championship game. Readers can press play above to watch their performance.

Zac Brown and company turned in a harmony-filled rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” during the championship game, sung a cappella and accompanied by Atlanta, Ga.-based gospel chorus David Walker and High Praise. Twelve-year-old Carly Ortega also assisted with the performance, signing the Anthem in honor of her mother, Daniella Osborne-King; Daniella was a Georgia Bulldogs fan who died of cancer in November.

Monday night’s National Anthem is earning recognition online and in the media — but not because of the Zac Brown Band’s performance. President Donald Trump was in attendance at the national championship game, and some claim that footage of him during the Anthem proves that he does not know all of the words to “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Trump stood on the field during the pre-game festivities, and during the Anthem, he placed his hand over his heart and sang along to some — but not all — of the song.

During Monday night’s national championship, the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 26-23. Prior to the game, numerous country artists were showing their allegiances on social media; the Zac Brown Band, Georgia natives, were cheering for the Bulldogs.
