Two Dan + Shay fans were truly “Speechless” when the country duo decided to crash their wedding for a special performance for their first dance.
Billboard reports that the hitmaking country duo performed by surprise when New Jersey residents Morgan Tilton and John Glennon held their wedding at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on Saturday (March 2).
Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney surprised the audience and couple alike at Disney’s Grand Floridian in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., running to the stage to perform their hit “Speechless.” The newly married couple danced the song away and took in the special moment.
The bride’s father planned the surprise with along with the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings team and had to keep the plan a secret for ten months beforehand.
After the performance, Mooney told Billboard, “I’ve crashed a lot of weddings. Never actually been invited to crash one before, so this is really cool. They usually kick us out of these things.”
Smyers adds, “Weddings are a huge moment in the timeline of someone’s life, which is why we’re so grateful when we find out our music is involved. It’s even more special when we get to witness it first hand. Morgan and John are great people, and we wish them a long and happy marriage. And free Dan + Shay tickets for life.”
The duo turned to social media to share a clip of their journey to surprise the couple. They took pictures and signed casts of wedding guests after their performance, and they even signed the wife’s wedding gown!
Dan + Shay are currently on the road for their headlining Dan + Shay the Tour with support from Chris Lane. They recently won their first Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Tequila,” and they are nominated six times in the upcoming 2019 ACM Awards, including Duo, Album, Single Record and Song of the Year.
