Trace Adkins Sings National Anthem at Patriots-Dolphins Game

Trace Adkins paid a visit to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Sunday (Nov. 26) to deliver a deep-voiced rendition of the National Anthem before the New England Patriots took on the Miami Dolphins.

Adkins thanked the franchise on social media for inviting him, and also called out the hashtag #salutetoservice. Each year, the NFL and its 32 teams come together to honor and support members of the military as part of the NFL’s Salute to Service. The league’s year-round military appreciation efforts culminate in November with NFL Salute to Service games and other special events honoring veterans, active duty service members and their families. Fans can join the NFL and USAA in honoring the military community by visiting NFL.com/Salute.

Adkins has long been an active supporter of the U.S. military, and as a well-read historian, his performances of troop-centric ballads or anthems forever come across as nothing short of genuine. His latest, “Still a Soldier” — which details how everyday life for a veteran is still steeped in military thought — was released last month, just days after the shootings at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas.

Country music was well represented in the NFL during the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend. In addition to Adkins’ performance, Thomas Rhett delivered an energetic halftime show at the Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers game on Thanksgiving Day.
