‘The Voice’: Red Marlow Does ‘Go Rest High on That Mountain’ by Vince Gill

It’s an exciting night on The Voice (Dec. 11). The top eight contestants paired up for duets as well as delivering individual solos. There will be a nasty and drastic cut this week, so this is the time for the singers to really show what makes them shine individually.

A fan favorite throughout Season 13 is the country-as-they-come member of Team Blake Shelton, Red Marlow. Marlow’s choice of the Vince Gill eulogic ballad from 1995, “Go Rest High on that Mountain,” apparently stemmed from losing his best friend two decades ago, and he put all of his heavenly might into the song. Shelton noted the selection was a rather hard one to nail, but Marlow — sans guitar for the first time this season — did a nice job filling Gill’s large shoes, giving it a lovely and heartfelt bent that the audience surely appreciated.

Check in tomorrow to see which of the eight hopefuls were eliminated. The Voice finale takes place next week, Tuesday Dec. 19.
