The ‘Ocean’s 8′ Trailer Is Made Even Better by Empowering ‘Boots Are Made for Walking’

A Loretta Lynn classic goes Hollywood in a new trailer for Ocean’s 8.

A revised version of “These Boots are Made for Walking” (recorded by Lynn in 1966) is the audio backdrop for the trailer, which stars Sandra Bullock acting as Debbie Ocean, a con preparing for the heist of a lifetime.

Instead of Lynn’s vocals, the movie teaser opts for the original vocals of Nancy Sinatra (who also recorded the song in 1966, before Lynn), and thanks to some handy editing —  including drum loops — the song sounds like a fresh version for 2017.

The trailer reveals Ocean being released from behind bars, pretending to want a normal life: “It was a mistake but it happened,” she says to her parole officer in the film. “If I were to be released, I would just want the simple life. I just want to hold down a job, make some friends and pay my bills.”

However, the savvy con-woman has much more than that on her mind, and throughout the trailer is seen setting up a team of eight (hence, Ocean’s 8) to carry out her illegal mission. Her ultimate goal is to rob Daphne Kluger (played by Anne Hathaway) of a necklace worth over 100 million dollars at an annual ball in New York City. That said, the film falls much along the same plot line of the previous Ocean’s films.

Ocean’s 8, to be released on June 8, is showcasing major star power, which includes Bullock, Hathaway, Olivia Munn, Dakota Fanning, Katie Holmes, Rihanna, James Corden, Adriana Lima, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett and more. Ocean’s 8 was written by Gary Ross and Olivia Milch, directed by Ross and produced by George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh.

There is no confirmation that “These Boots are Made for Walking” is the official song of the film, but we wouldn’t complain if it is. If the boot fits, right?
