Sugarland and Cam are Latest Country Artists to Join ‘American Idol”

The new season of American Idol premieres on Mar. 11, and it has no shortage of country music talent on tap for viewers to enjoy. Besides—of course—judge Luke Bryan, there’s Idol alum Scotty McCreery and radio personality Bobby Bones, who will be serving as a mentors for the season. And now, country artists Sugarland and Cam have just announced they’ll be on the show as well.

Sugarland, who posted their big news on social media Mar. 2, will be taking part in the duets portion of the show, where they’ll join finalists who make the Top 24 cut on stage for a performance. This is also the role Cam will be playing, too.

Sugarland and Cam are joining an all-star crew of duet artists, including Banners, Aloe Blacc, Bishoop Briggs, Colbie Caillat, Luis Fonsi, Andy Grammer, Lea Michele, Train’s Pat Monahan, Rachel Platten, Bebe Rexha, and Allen Stone.

ABC’s American Idol will air on Sundays and Mondays, kicking things off with a two-hour premiere that starts at 8PM ET/PT. Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be filling roles alongside Bryan as judges. According to McCreery, who won Season 10 of the show back in 2011, the new season is shaping up nicely: “The contestants were cool, great voices, and seem like they have great heads on their shoulders. It should be a good year.”
