Steve Moakler Drops Hot New Single, ‘Born Ready’ [LISTEN]

Steve Moakler has shared the title track from his album Born Ready, which is due out later this year. Readers can press play below to listen to the feel good, driving tune, guaranteed to get you in summertime road-trip mode.

An ode to the long-haul trucker, “Born Ready” was partially inspired by the partnership that Moakler has going with Mack Trucks. Co-written by Moakler with Luke Laird and Barry Dean, the open road anthem has a Springsteen vibe and hearkens to Moakler’s industrial Pittsburgh roots.

“Red white blue just rollin’ down the blacktop / Bulldogs barking til the can-do backs off / Raised on the run just two hands holdin’ on steady / Born ready,” the lyrics play out like a two lane highway across the fly over states. Whether we were born that way or not, one thing’s for sure: Moakler’s anthem gets us ready.

While he may still be a newcomer as a performer in his own right, Moakler has long been a critical piece in the puzzle of the Nashville country songwriting scene. Best known for penning songs for stars such as Jake OwenEric ChurchKellie Pickler and Dierks Bentley (you can thank him for Bentley’s 2015 hit “Riser“), Moakler released his fourth studio album Steel Town in March of 2017. While the songwriter and performer is no stranger to hit-making in Music City, listeners may not realize that he’s the writer behind some of their favorite singles. Hopefully, that’s all about to chance with the release of Born Ready later in 2018.
