Sound Off: Is Jon Pardi’s ‘She Ain’t in It’ a Hit? [Listen]

Jon Pardi‘s latest single “She Ain’t In It” finds the singer lamenting following a breakup. After mourning the end of a relationship for a month or so, he finally decides it’s time to go out and be in a crowd with his friends, “as long as she ain’t in it.”

With Pardi’s distinct twang and yearning vocals, the country singer adequately gets his pain across. Added pedal steel accompaniment transforms “She Ain’t In It” into a classic tear-in-my-beer country song that leaves a lasting mark on the listener.

“Don’t wanna hear her name / I don’t wanna see her face / I swear, I know it’s gonna hurt / If I run into her somewhere,” he sings on the chorus.

“She Ain’t In It” is Pardi’s fourth single off his sophomore album, California Sunrise. The Clint Daniels and Wynn Varble-written song follows the success of Pardi’s previous three consecutive No. 1 hits with “Head Over Boots,” “Dirt on My Boots” and “Heartache on the Dance Floor.”

“‘She Ain’t In It’ is a great country song,” Pardi says in a press release. “The first time I heard it, I had to listen to it over and over again. I was like ‘This has to be on the record. It is just pure country.’ It’s got that heartbreak to it. It’s got that moving on. Great lyrics and a great melody and it’s one of my favorites to ever call mine.”

Did you know? Pardi’s first No. 1 hit “Head Over Boots” has resonated with many country fans, and has often been used at couple’s weddings and proposals.

These Singers Are Keeping Traditional Country Music Alive

Jon Pardi’s “She Ain’t In It” lyrics:

Appreciate your call, means a lot and all / Yeah, I got a minute / You and me can talk about anything you want / As long as she ain’t in it / Say, it’s been at least a month since I’ve had any fun / Buddy, I’ll admit it / Yeah, I’m into going out / Think I’m ready for this crowd / As long as she ain’t in it

Chorus:

Don’t wanna hear her name / I don’t wanna see her face / I swear, I know it’s gonna hurt / If I run into her somewhere

We could hit that place down by the interstate / Out past the city limits / Hangout all night long / Hear a country song / As long as she ain’t in it

I can drink and I can dance / I can party, I can laugh / But no matter how you spin it / Everything has changed / My life won’t be the same / As long as she ain’t in it / As long as she ain’t in it.
