Remember When Hillary Scott’s Mom Sang With Reba McEntire?

Linda Davis had a successful solo career before teaming up with Reba McEntire for the Grammy and CMA Award-winning hit, “Does He Love You.”

Lady Antebellum‘s Hillary Scott was just 7 years old when her mom cut the music video. Imagine the little girl’s horror when towards the end of the video the devious character, played by McEntire, kills her mom with an unexpected explosion!

The song was written by Sandy Knox and Billy Stritch, and McEntire invited Davis to join her in recording it as a new track on her Greatest Hits Volume Two in 1993. The powerful song describes a love triangle, and it reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart. It won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Collaboration, a CMA award for Vocal Event of the Year and a TNN/Music City New award for Best Vocal Collaboration.

The video is also notable for its costuming. Sure, articles like Davis’ turquoise blazer are going to look dated — because they are — but can anyone remember McEntire’s Egyptian head wrap ever being en vogue? Thankfully, Scott has always been on the cutting edge of country style.
