While the country remains in shock from the latest school shooting — this time in PARKLAND, FL, where 17 were killed and numberous others injured — local radio is stepping up to help.

iHEARTMEDIA/SOUTH FLORIDA VP/Programming ALEX TEAR shared with ALL ACCESS, “Our stations  activated on several different levels with our main focus being to support OUR community. In our building alone we had graduates and families that were directly involved in this horrific tragedy. All of our iHEARTRADIO brands stopped time to inform and have a community conversation around the clock.

“Our key personalities connected live with students, teachers, families, first responders, listeners, Senators, City Officials, celebrity alumni and more. The local and national impact of this tragedy has further elevated important political and humanitarian conversations that must find solutions. We will help continue that dialogue and work with our community to make real progress for an overall safer environment, especially when our children are involved.”

TEAR continued, “In honor of supporting our community, we also spoke with several affected by this devastating incident and worked with them to build a show of unity and strength campaign that continues to rotate on Billboards around SOUTH FLORIDA. Below are 3 examples of several. We will continue to help our community grow even stronger through all the means we have access to.”

COX MEDIA GROUP/MIAMI GM RALPH RENZI shared, “yesterday our blood drive filled over 60 units of blood for the victims of the shooting. That will help over 180 people. There were 3 Blood One trucks here all day. All 4 of our stations were broadcasting live and local from our building to support the blood drive and give our listeners a chance to speak.”
