Pistol Annies Reunite on Miranda Lambert’s Livin’ Like Hippies Tour [WATCH]

Friday and Saturday night (March 2 and 3) were “reunion weekend” for the Pistol Annies. Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe joined Miranda Lambert onstage at two of her Livin’ Like Hippies Tour stops; together, the trio performed two songs during each of the shows.

Lambert’s 2018 trek was stopped in Knoxville, Tenn., and Cleveland, Ohio, when Presley and Monroe showed up (though Monroe also came out to sing “Heart Like Mine” with Lambert on Thursday night (March 1) in Lexington, Ky.). Together, the three artists sang their Pistol Annies songs “Hell on Heels” and “Takin’ Pills;” readers can press play on the videos below to watch.

“Hell on Heels” is the title track of the Pistol Annies’ 2011 album and was released as a single; “Takin’ Pills” also appears on that project. The Hell on Heels album has been certified gold and hit No. 1 on the Billboard country albums chart.

The Pistol Annies released a second album, Annie Up, in 2013; however, later that year, they abruptly canceled all of their upcoming concerts, and they have not released any new music or toured together since. Rumors of a breakup swirled at that time, but all three artists have denied any tension among them.

In the years since, Lambert, Monroe and Presley have written together for other projects and have hinted numerous times at an official Pistol Annies reunion. Most recently, in January, Lambert posted on social media that she was working on music for a new Pistol Annies record; however, she admitted shortly thereafter that while the trio is working on it, a full-blown reunion, including new music, isn’t close just yet.

“Everybody is kind of in different directions, which is why the Annies always takes a while,” Lambert says, adding that she is pushing hard to at least get the music written this year. “We’re very much in the spirit of the Annies right now.”

Lambert’s Livin’ Like Hippies Tour began in January and is scheduled to run through late March. Joining Lambert on the road for all of her 2018 tour stops will be Jon Pardi; additionally, select dates will include Brent Cobb, the Turnpike Troubadours, Lucie Silvas, the Steel Woods, Sunny Sweeney, Ashley McBryde and Charlie Worsham.
