Never Say Blake Shelton Doesn’t Help His Hometown — He Just Gave $50K!

After several surprise performances at his bar, Ole Red, in Tishomingo, Okla. this month, Blake Shelton has teamed up with Ryman Hospitality Properties to donate $50,000 to the city.

“It’s always fun to play your hometown and now that we have Ole Red in Tishomingo, we can pop up and play any time,” Shelton says in a statement. “We played a lot of music, had fun and raised money for Pennington Park. Now that’s a good time!”

The generous donation will go to Pennington Park, a 15-acre park in Tishomingo with a lake for fishing and swimming. The area also provides RV hookups, camping, boat ramp access and walking trails to provide a fun stay for the entire family. The money will benefit improvements to the current splash pad and the addition of water features.

The news comes days after the country singer was joined by girlfriend Gwen Stefani on stage at Ole Red on Feb. 10 as part of a two-night appearance at his new venue. Stefani surprised the audience for a special duet of their song, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.” Before the singer introduced Stefani, he kicked things off with a joke as he alluded to their sensational relationship in the tabloids.

“She actually gave birth to twins yesterday, and she’s here tonight to sing with me,” he joked. The two then performed “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” a tune they penned together for Shelton’s 2016 release, If I’m Honest.
