Luke Bryan Has Encouraging Words For P!nk at Super Bowl LII

If there’s one thing Luke Bryan knows how to do, it’s have a good time. The singer was put to an uncharacteristically serious task last year, however, when he sang the National Anthem ahead of Super Bowl LI. He crushed it, and now has some words of advice for his successor, pop star P!nk, who will be doing the anthem for 2018.

“P!nk is one of the best singers on planet Earth and I know she’s going to do an unbelievable job with the National Anthem,” Bryan told ET. “It’s pretty nerve-wracking, I’m sure she’ll kill it though. She’s been on the big stage for a lot of years, certainly even more than me, so I know she’ll do great and good luck.”

Bryan knows from controversy regarding anthem performances. In 2012, after he sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the MLB All-Star Game, he spurred a good deal of chatter  when fans criticized the superstar for reading the lyrics to the anthem off his hand while he sang.

Luckily, his 2017 performance was free and clear of any such gossip. It’s likely seasoned performer P!nk, who had a No. 1 hit duet with Kenny Chesney on “Setting the World on Fire,” will be able to handle the duties equally well.

Super Bowl LII will take place Feb. 4, when the New England Patriots will take on the Philadelphia Eagles at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
