In his post, Moore points out that disagreeing with someone is okay, but being hateful about those differences is not.
“I’ll never understand hatred, and I guess I’m glad that I don’t,” Moore says. “Love is the only thing that drives out hate … I see people spewing it back and forth on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter all day every day, and that will never create a positive outcome.”
Moore’s post also points out that it’s natural to feel a little scared after tragedies; however, he also acknowledges that it’s important to move forward.
“There will be other attacks that happen in our lifetime, but I hope people don’t let the evil stop them from doing the things that bring them joy,” Moore writes. “Am I sketched out in theaters sometimes? Yes … do I rehearse my Sylvester Stallone exiting fight plan before I sit down? Yes I do … but I’ll never stop going to theaters, concerts, parks or any other place that brings me joy.”
Country Stars Respond Following Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting
This isn’t the first time Moore has spoken out about hatred in the face of a tragedy. Following August’s rally of white supremacists, white nationalists, Ku Klux Klan members and neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Va., and the counter-protests nearby, Moore shared a lengthy post urging his fans and followers to once again spread kindness and take care of each other.
“If your parents taught u 2 hate people of color they’re idiots,” Moore said at the time. “If you’re an adult & still spewing their hate, that makes u a bigger idiot.”
At least 59 people were killed and more than 500 people were injured in the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, which began on Sunday night (Oct. 1) when Jason Aldean, who was headlining the final night of the three-day festival, was performing. Other artists who performed at the Route 91 Harvest Festival include Sam Hunt, Eric Church, Maren Morris, the Brothers Osborne and Luke Combs; the event ran Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
