‘Either Way’ Wins Best Country Solo Performance at the 2018 Grammy Awards

Chris Stapleton won the trophy for Best Country Solo Performance, for “Either Way,” at the 2018 Grammy Awards. The win was Stapleton’s first win of the night.

This win is Stapleton’s second for Best Country Solo Performance; in 2016, he nabbed the award for “Traveller,” the title track of his 2015 LP. As the house band played Johnny Cash‘s “I Walk the Line,” Stapleton made his way to the stage.

“Sorry, I’m out of breath — I just ran six miles to get here,” he joked. “This is always an amazing honor, just to be here, to be a part of this.”

Stapleton also called it “a beautiful thing to me” that a song with just him and an acoustic guitar won the Grammys trophy. He closed his speech by thanking the Recording Academy, voters and those who bought a record.

Other nominees in this 2018 Grammy Awards category included Sam Hunt‘s “Body Like a Back Road;” Alison Krauss‘ “Losing You;” Miranda Lambert‘s “Tin Man;” and Maren Morris‘ “I Could Use a Love Song.”
