Dan + Shay Shine with ‘Do You Hear What I Hear?’ Christmas Cover [Watch]

Dan + Shay were part of a major country lineup during the eighth annual CMA Country Christmas program held at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. The two-hour broadcast on Nov. 27 featured the duo singing a powerful rendition of the holiday classic “Do You Hear What I Hear?”

The duo’s beautiful harmonies were highlighted throughout their nearly four-minute performance. Backed by strings and additional vocalists, Shay Mooney’s striking falsetto was complemented by Dan Smyers’ assistance. On a stage decorated in Christmas lights, Dan + Shay brought the holiday season to Music City with their powerful performance.

Dan + Shay were two of many country singers who took the famed Opry stage for CMA Country Christmas. They were joined by Luke Bryan, who performed an orchestral version of “O Holy Night.”

“I’ve always loved that song,” Bryan said backstage during the November 14 taping of the CMA Country Christmas show. “I remember being a kid always loving John Berry’s version of that … it’s pretty incredible. I’d always try to sing along with him and I told my self one day if my voice ever gets there I’d try it.”

Additionally, Alan JacksonKelsea Ballerini, CB30, Brett EldredgeLady AntebellumLittle Big TownDustin Lynch, CeCe Winans, Trisha Yearwood and Chris Young also performed during the eighth annual Christmas extravaganza. Reba McEntire hosted the show for the first time in 2017 as she replaced former Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles, who has hosted the program since 2010.

Those who missed the broadcast of CMA Country Christmas are in luck as the show will re-air on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8/7c on ABC.
