Carrie Underwood Kicks Off Super Bowl LII With Sexy ‘Champion’ Video

Carrie Underwood premiered her new video for “The Champion” just prior to the kickoff of Super Bowl LII on Feb. 4, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The superstar dazzled in a silver gown encrusted with pearls and jewels, looking sexy and confident as she showed off her famous legs and belted out the inspiring anthem.

The clip additionally featured a montage of cameos from NFL champs past and present, including Joe Montana, Ronnie Lott, Marcus Allen, Nick Foles and Tom Brady.

The song, which features rapper Ludacris, was written by Underwood at the request of Sunday Night Football executive producer Fred Gaudelli for the upcoming Bowl. A preview was revealed to fans during playoffs in January.

“When we were writing ‘The Champion,’ our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives,” Underwood says in a press release. “We hope the lyrics will inspire people to push themselves beyond their limits to conquer anything they are trying to accomplish or overcome. There’s a champion in every single one of us!”

NBC Sports will also incorporate “The Champion” into its coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Super Bowl LII was held Feb. 4 in Minneapolis, hosting the New England Patriots vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
